For two weeks, I wrote down the essential heuristics that have guided my life for over ten years.
PRINCIPLES:
- Fallibalism – What was true ten minutes ago may not be true anymore.
- Principle of Charity – Interpret your opponent so well they would agree with you.
- Methodological Naturalism – No causal relationships rely on the supernatural.
PROFESSIONAL:
- No business plan ever survives first contact with reality.
- Paper handouts for every meeting you personally call.
- Everything is always negotiable.
- Jack of all trades and master of a few.
- Early is on time and on time is late.
PERSONAL:
- Keep your nice things nice.
- Double knot every shoelace.
- If it comes out of your mouth make damn sure you do it.
- Believe as many true things as possible and less false things.
- Be proud of what you put your name on.
